Barry C. Cann

Billerica, MA
22.Feb.1945 - 26.Aug.2009

Barry C. Cann, age 64, former Massachusetts resident, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in NY, after a short illness. He was born in Lowell, February 22, 1945, the son of Elsie (Williams) Cann of Dayton, Maine and the late Harry F. Cann. He was employed at the John Deere Company in Syracuse, NY. He grew up in Billerica and worked in construction and later as a builder and developer in both the Westford and Andover areas. He enjoyed flying single and multi-engine airplanes and working on classic cars. However, his greatest passion was when he raced super-modified cars at the Oswego Speedway in the 1970s and 80s. Besides his mother, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Michael Monteiro, of Dracut, his three grandchildren, Angela, Barry, and Brianna, all of Dracut, his sister, Janice (Cann) and her husband Eugene Geaumont of Dayton, Maine, and his two brothers, Richard Cann and his wife Joanne of Port Orange, FL and Allen Cann and his companion Carol of Haverhill. He also leaves behind longtime close friend and companion Janet Kapuscinski of NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.

This car is a Super disguised as a sprint car. Barry intended to invade the 1978 Phoenix Copper Classic with it and made the long haul only to be outlawed! The racing that year was ultimately flooded out anyways.
