SNYDER TAKES SECOND VICTORY OF 2004

Oswego, NY - Northfield, NH native Tim Snyder started tenth in the Supermodified feature on Saturday, and ended the race leading the field to the checkered flag. Snyder blasted by Bob Bond and Jeff Holbrook to claim the lead on lap 34, and didn't have to look back.
The events on Saturday were sponsored by State Farm Insurance of Oswego and Dig Safely New York.

The Supermodified feature started out with a violent crash involving Mike Brubaker and Bob Goutermout. Goutermout spun up the track out of turn four coming around to complete lap 1 of the event, causing many of the competitors to slow down quickly. Brubaker caught a wheel, and headed high into the catch-fence rollcage first.
His car tagged Goutermout's rollcage while flying through the air, spinning the car quickly around making the impact downside-first into the catch fence. Goutermout's rollcage stayed in tact, saving Goutermout from any injury. After colliding with the turn four catch-fence, Brubaker's 36 rested on the racing surface upside down. Track safety crew officials within seconds were at the scene. No drivers were injured in the lap 1 accident.

When racing resumed, Jeff Holbrook took off from the outside front row and opened up a straightaway lead on the rest of the field. Bob Bond, Jerry Curran, Bob Magner, and Tim Gareau rounded out the top five.

While Greg Furlong came charging through the field, he made contact down the front straightaway with Bob Magner, sending the Hannibal, NY native into the outside wall and spinning into turn one. He was out for the night.

Holbrook pulled away once again slowly after racing resumed. Just before lap 20, Tim Snyder pulled his number 0 into the top five, and didn't stop there. He drove around Bob Magner and Tim Gareau in the same turn at halfway of the 45-lap feature, and quickly chased down Holbrook and Bond for the lead.

Jerry Curran, Todd Stowell, Craig Rayvals, and Danny Kapuscinski put on a great show battling for sixth place before Stowell lost control of his 89 on lap 32 out of turn two bringing out the caution flag. When racing continued, Snyder drove by Bond for second, then slingshot off of turn four to take the lead from Jeff Holbrook on lap 34.

Two late cautions closed the field up in the late stages of the main event, but Snyder was too fast to be challenged. He went on to take his second victory of the season, and took over a second place spot in the Coca-Cola Supermodified Point Standings.
