Last Saturday night's Twin 50 features proved to be very exciting with action galore every lap.

Splitting the honors of winning one feature each were Jimmy Shampine and Nolan Swift.

When the green flag dropped for the start of the first feature, Jim Shampine who started on pole, jumped off to take the early lead. Nolan Swift who started right behind Jim, came on for second as Nick Rowe, Ken Andrews, Kempton Dates, Norm Mackereth and Harv Lennox battled to take a shot at the leaders. But out front, Shampine and Swift began opening a little breathing room on the rest of the field then Swift made his move right on by Shampine. In the meantime, Norm Mackereth came charging up thru the field with his car 40 and was cutting down on the leaders when, as he was passing a lapped car which suddenly swung wide in the first turn, forcing Norm to spin to avoid collision. He was sent to the rear, this taking place on lap 18. When restarted, Swift and Shampine again ran away but found Ken Andrews coming on to battle momentarily. The race was stopped on lap 20 when Jim Winks, Nolan Johncock and Harv Lennox tangled in turn four. Only four laps later, Winks and Johncock came together in turn three only this time with Freddie Graves. On the restart Swift kept the 10 ahead of Shampine's 8 and all looked settled until Nolan's engine quit forcing him into the pits and handing the victory to Jim Shampine. Ken Andrews held on for second while Norm Mackereth came all the way back to third.

After intermission, the cars were lined up again, according to their finish in the first feature.

Warren Coniam in the 68 jumped off to a good lead but then the most serious accident of the night occured. Kempton Dates went over a wheel of another car going down the backstretch and spun to a stop in the third turn. His car immediately became engulfed in flames, but Kemp scrambled to safety.

On the restart, Shampine got the jump on Swift but Swifty was just running too good and on lap 20 put the 10 in the lead for good. Everything was going smooth and it looked like Swifty would get the win easily when suddenly Leon Wieske blew his engine going into the first turn sending Swift and Shampine along with Ronnie Gamble, Jim Muldoon, Nolan Johncock, Harv Lennox and Paul Baumhauer into a spinning melee in the first turn. Also involved in the scramble was Eldon Schrader whose car 59 hit the outside wall with terrific force. Eldon was removed to Oswego Hospital for observation.

On the restart, Swift opened up a little room on Jimmy to win his first feature of the year at Oswego. Shampine came home second with Canadian Warren Coniam third.
