Hap Brown

Canandiagua, NY
23.Aug.1921 - 24.Jun.1956
Ralph W. Brown, known to all as "Hap" Brown, was a resident of Canandiagua, New York, and worked as a nurse at the veterans hospital in that town. He was a veteran himself, having served in the US Army during World War 2.
During a NASCAR sanctioned midget race at Lancaster Speedway in Pennsylvania, he was hit in the head by a pipe that had fallen off a car ahead of him, knocking him unconscious, and causing him to lose control of his midget car #45, which he owned. The runaway car then crashed through two fences. Hap Brown was taken to Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital, where he died the next day. He was thirty-four-year old.
