Pocono, September 29, 1969. Bob Stelter won the '69 Pocono qualifier at Oswego, his first Oswego feature win, so we were in. I had to go to school Friday, so I rode down with Billy and Phyllis Stelter that afternoon, Michael Stelter was still a toddler then so he stayed home. What a party that Friday night. Then Saturday rolled around, Bob qualified 8th with the upright 04! I remember partying that afternoon and Bob was out of control but a lot of fun. We all went out for dinner and drinks that night but Bob stayed out and kept Louie Dabrowski's truck. Lou had his new wedge car there and qualified good. I remember Louie finished in the top 10 and made $100.00, they paid him in $1.00 bills! Well, on the way back to the motel Saturday night, Bob ran out of gas in the middle of no where. Louie had a drum of methanol on the truck and Bob put methanol in the old Chevy truck to get back. I remember Louie freaking out in the morning when he found out! We had to drain the gas tank and go get gas!
