To Mark Letcher: RIP my good friend of over 50+ years. We had a lot of fun working together over the years. I am so grateful that you looked me up at the speedway a couple of weeks ago. You came up to my push jeep and said I’m riding with you. I am deeply saddened that I gave you your final laps around the track, but also happy to have been the one to do it. You will be missed by everyone that knew you. Your good old moonshine buddy, Howard (gearbox).

It's rare when you can go into a speedway and see someone who immediately can make everything around him happier and funnier. That was Mark. No matter what was going on, things were better when he was around. And it is sad that he is no longer around. Good nature like his could not be taught, it's just who he was. Great guy funny guy and I'll miss him.

Early in May of 1969, The brand new Pocono Raceway hosted supers on the 3/4 mile inner track. Mark took quite a ride. |
