In a year when many people preached about parity in supermodified racing, someone apparently forgot to tell Bentley Warren. The Ipswich, Massachusetts, resident padded his point lead in powering his way to the Burger King 45 win last Saturday night at the Oswego Speedway.

By virtue of his consistent finishes Warren started deep in the field as the Mike Mazur 61 lined up 16th when the field prepared to face the green. In what was probably one of the most competitive features of the year, Bentley worked his way through the field in fine fashion. By the tenth lap he was sitting in seventh while when "20" appeared in lights in the first turn he was third behind Steve Gioia Jr. and Jamie Moore. By the 30th circuit he faced the task of getting past Gioia and on the 34th he took the lead with an awesome outside move. After that he held off a yellow to capture his fifth Oswego main of the season.

The evening was relatively calm, but at the start of the main Bob Smith got goosed on the front straight and spun the Norris McDonald 27. On the restart AJ. Michaels, Randy Ritskes and Gioia set the pace. However, on the fourth lap it was Ritskes taking the low road down the back stretch and he won the drag race against Michaels. Ritskes began to gain some breathing room while attention focused on second place. Michaels, Gioia along with Dan Soule, Moore, Doug Didero, Mike Ordway, Bentley Warren and Joe Gosek were running bumper-to-bumper, wheel-to-wheel. By the tenth lap it was Ritskes comfortably in front. He was trailed by Michaels, Gioia, Moore, Soule, Ordway, Warren, Gosek, Ed Bellinger Jr., Didero and Mike Muldoon. The yellow hit again on the 11th lap when Ken Williamson lost an engine in the 66. The restart saw Bentley Warren move into the top five.

Pressure was applied to runner-up Michaels and on the 13th lap both Gioia and Moore improved their position by one spot and moments later Bentley had sent Michaels back to fifth. The competition was intense as Ritskes was watching his several car length lead diminish. On the 19th lap the 87 slowed dramatically as the field exited the fourth tum and Ritskes pitted with a valve cover gasket problem.

Gioia inherited the point, but Moore and Warren were right behind. With 20 laps into the record book Gosek was fourth followed closely by Michaels, Didero, Ordway, Muldoon, Doug Heveron and Soule. Warren ripped out the slingshot on the 24th lap, found the target and shot past Moore on the low side for the runner up spot. Yellow struck again with Gary Iulg spinning and Jeff West looking. However, with 15 laps remaining Gioia, Warren, Moore, Gosek, Didero, Michaels, Muldoon, Bellinger, Ordway and Soule held down the top ten positions. Steve Gioia was running a smart race as he protected the low side. But with 11 laps remaining Bentley Warren took the outside lane around Gioia at the east end of the speedway. Suddenly the field began to string out. With five laps remaining the top four appeared cemented in the final rundown list. At the checker it was Bentley Warren winning comfortably over Steve Gioia Jr. while completing the top five were Jamie Moore, Joe Gosek and Doug Didero.
